Message 1235 (1962) - The Sensational Saints Of Ohio: Ain't That A Shame
The song will play automatically. Use the button at the right for downloading it.
This month's download is meant to accompany the newly added Message discography. Message was a small Detroit label (three releases only), run by Harvey Fuqua. Fuqua founded the seminal R&B/doo-wop group the Moonglows in the 1950s. He is noted for later having been one of the key figures in the development of the Motown label. Apart from Message, he also ran the Tri-Phi, Harvey and H.P.C. labels around the same time in the early 1960's. For more information, click here (Wikipedia article).
Message 1235 is the only known release by The Sensational Saints Of Ohio. The B-side, called "Ain't That A Shame" (not the Fats Domino song!), is featured here and it's a strong performance, done in a typical late 50's/early 60's style. It's an uptempo track with strong lead vocal, good harmonies and accompaniment by a band with dominant drums and organ.
