4 Track Motorola - '66 Corolla
Solid Rock SRD-66, 2005
A compilation
album featuring unreleased demo's and other (snippets of) songs, never
released before. It seems that most or all are from the 1960's. Included
are several People songs. See also "Motorola
Corolla 2" (album #107).
This album
is available as a download on Larry Norman's Bandcamp
pages.
01.
Telephone > Think
Written by Lowman Pauling (The 5 Royales), originally on "Both Sides
Of People" (album #2 in the discography). Prior to this song you
can hear an answering machine, with a message from some unknown person.
There was a telephone number with this message, Lary Norman found out
about it and recorded it eventually.
02.
Looking Good
Previously unreleased People track.
03.
Spirits
Previously unissued version of "Baroquen Spirits" with Denny
Fridkin singing (People).
04.
Sweetheart (Groupie Evasion Strategy #84)
Originally as "Hey Sweetheart" on "Both Sides Of People"
(album #2).
05.
Blow In My Ear
Titled "Laugh-In" in the booklet, this is "Blow In My Ear
And I'll Follow You Anywhere" from Capitol 2429, released as by the
Flies.
06.
Clean Lennon
This song was first released on the 2CD version of "Upon This Rock"
(Solid Rock SRD-969, 2002, album #3 in the discography). It was recorded
in 1969 and is reminiscent to "I Don't Wanna Lose You" (from
the first version of "Street level", 1970, album #4 in the discography).
07.
Now Is The Time
Previously unreleased People track.
08.
Dancer
This is "She's A Dancer", a recording from the People days,
with Larry Norman singing. The released version on "Both Sides Of
People" (album #2) is sung by Gene Mason. Larry Norman's version
from "So Long Ago The Garden" (album #7 in the discography)
is more well-known. Larry Norman's original solo version appeared on the
first version of "Street Level" (album #4).
09.
Rita Rita > Sigrid
This title starts with 'Rita Rita Rita Baby, Rita Rita bring it on home,
yeah, Rita Rita Rita Baby, Rita Rita don't you leave me all alone' to
continue with a previously unknown version of "Sigrid Jane",
which was first issued on the first version of "Street Level"
(album #4). This could be the same version as on the Beechwood-Capitol
acetate (see also "Street Level" in the discography).
10.
Let My Love Go
Previously unreleased People track.
11.
Killing The Dragon
Part of "The Epic". The full version was released on side B
of People's "I Love You" (album #1).
12.
Hungarian Rhaps #2
This is Frank Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody #2", a previously
unknown People instrumental. It also appeared on "The
Best Of People, Vol. 2" as a bonus track.
13.
Idonwanna Lose U
The u-card sais "Idowanna Lose U", but should read "Idonwanna
Lose U". This is a previously unreleased version of "I Don't
Wanna Lose You", a little slower than the released version on "Street
Level" (first version, 1970, album #4). This could be the same version
as on the Beechwood-Capitol acetate (see also "Street Level"
in the discography).
14.
Child
This is a rehearsal recording of "The Day That A Child Appeared"
with guitar instead of piano (see "Bootleg", album #5 in the
discography for the released version).
15.
Wake Up To Me
Previously unknown Larry Norman recording, with Nancy Norman and a full
band.
16.
All My Dreams
This is "When All My Dreams Are Ending" and it could be the
same as the Harmony Recorders (Beechwood) acetate, listed under "Upon
This Rock" in the discography (album #3). The version on "Father
Touch" (album #46 in the discography) is from a much later date.
17.
